HURDLE BASICS: A GRASSROOTS APPROACH
Item Number: TD-02966 $39.99
Coach Elliott believes that hurdling is a very dynamic event involving key components including flexibility, speed, explosive power and - most importantly - coordination. Elliott shares how to combine all of these ingredients into effective progressions for the teaching and coaching of the hurdles. Elliott's dynamic warm-up routine for the hurdles incorporates A-skips, B-skips, high knees, fast lead leg and fast feet drills similar to those of sprinters. He proceeds to hurdle specific technical instruction utilizing "wall drills" for the lead and trail leg. Elliott next incorporates the lead and trail leg wall drills into a step-by-step drill progression for moving over the hurdles. Elliott concludes with starting block drills that will get the athlete to the first hurdle in eight steps, emphasizing the drive phase and approach. Throughout the presentation, Elliott shares techniques, tips and drill alternatives for making the instruction skill-level appropriate for athletes from beginners through more experienced hurdlers. This is a great tool for coaches and athletes of all levels who want to learn Grass Roots Hurdling at its best.

BECOMING A CHAMPION SHOTPUTTER: BEYOND THE BASICS DVD
Item Number: TD-02823H
With the help of a former-FSU All-American athlete, Coach Meaders breaks down the elements of the rotational style shot put for athletes at all levels. The starting position in the circle is the foundation of proper shot putting. Pivot drills with cones are demonstrated and are essential for establishing a solid base. Coach Meaders uses a variety of cone locations to teach different parts of the initial phases of footwork. Dozens of teaching points are made with the use of a stick. Because footwork is so crucial to this event, small cones are used throughout the DVD. Other props used in demonstrations are a cup of water, medicine balls, bungee cord, softballs and large barrels in the circle to strengthen various teaching points.

28 SPEED AND POWER DRILLS FOR THE 800 DVD

Item Number: TD-02579C $34.99
This DVD is loaded with 28 drills for speed and power training for the 800 meters. Coach Barker stresses that this race requires speed, strength and endurance to be successful. The first set of drills can be used as a dynamic warm-up and to reinforce proper technique. Tall running form is necessary and the stride creates a line of power into the track. Fatigue causes runners to lose form and slow down. The next set of drills are designed to improve endurance and strength during the pre-season conditioning period and focus on the whole range of motion. These drills stress good posture; work the glutes, hams and lower back region; emphasizes good sprinting posture; and strengthens the sprinting muscles. All of these dynamic drills will lead to the Jump Circuit later in the season. Pedestal exercises are the next set of drills, and they focus on strengthening the core. The final progression in Barker's 800 meter training program is hill sprinting and bounding. Coaches can learn how sprinters in the 800 meters can improve the strength, speed, change of pace, acceleration and how to put a strong efficient force down into the ground in their finishing kick.
